Recently there were some complains about broken ceramic cistern and searching for the replacement. Actually, you can prevent it from falling down and save the hassle of replacing a new cistern. By now, the fallen / dropped cistern is already easily 20 years old. Time to check the condition of the bracket that is holding the ceramic tank onto the wall. If it's rusty, just replace it. I have attached the photos of the bracket for your reference. This is a low level water closet with the ceramic tank fixed to the wall.

This is High Level tank. Mostly for squatting pan.

Please check and see whether are the steel brackets holding the cistern is in good condition.
